Christingle (+mince pies)

December 24, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Picture of Christingle

‘Christingle’ means ‘Christlight’. It is made up of an orange that represents the world; a candle which is the Jesus, the light of the world, born at Christmas; a red ribbon which reminds us of the blood of Jesus who died for us on the cross and four cocktail sticks which are either the four seasons or the four corners of the world. The sweets and fruit on the cocktail sticks represent God’s good gifts to us.

Please make a Christingle and bring it with you to our early Christmas Eve Service.

Tea and coffee are served in the Hall afterwards. (Free of Charge)

How to make a Christingle

  • Take an orange and put a piece of red ribbon around the middle of the orange.
  • Cut a hole on the top of the orange and put a candle in it.
  • Put four cocktail sticks around the middle of the orange or near the base of the candle at equal distances. Put soft sweets or raisins, grapes or sultanas onto the cocktail sticks.
  • If you need to, cut off a thin slice from the bottom of the orange so that it sits flat and doesn’t roll around!
